IMAT 2025 is approaching and we are here to convey to all the IMAT candidates what we predict for the exam.

IMAT 2025 EXAM DAY

IMAT usually takes place in the mid-September, especially in the third Thursday of the September. So, considering this fact, we can anticipate that the IMAT 2025 exam will be held on September 16th, which is one day earlier than last year exam. Following the trend, it will take place to all the universities that offer Medicine in English across the Italy, as well as in specific exam halls across the world. It may also start at 12:00 across the Italy and the corresponding time in the international venues. The IMAT 2025 exam date may be announced by the MUR in mid-June, almost 3 months before the official date.

IMAT 2025 DEADLINES

IMAT deadlines have changed a little bit in the previous 2 years due to changes in the administration of the test. We predict that the official decree will be published in the last week of July or the first week of August. The official decree communicates all the regulations and key dates of the IMAT exam. So, following the previous patterns, these are the key dates that we anticipate:

September 16th- Exam day

September 25th- Anonymous Results

October 2nd- Personal Results

October 9th- National Ranking

Notes that these are the dates that we think will occur this year, but we should wait for the official decree to be published by the MInistry of Education and Research in order to know the final and official dates. We will notify you for anything new.

IMAT 2025 Syllabus, Structure and Difficulty

We think that the IMAT syllabus will not change. It will remain the same so do not think so much about the syllabus.

The structure of the test may remain the same. The structure changed 2 years ago since the MUR took care of the IMAT instead of Cambridge Assessment. According to the new format, the test exhibits more straightforward questions and less logic and general knowledge questions, with a great emphasis in biology, constricting approximately 38% of the total questions.

The difficulty is something risky to predict, but we will raise a supposition. IMAT 2024 was the easiest test since the establishing of the IMAT. It did not cover some very important and difficult parts of the syllabus. For example, in biology, there was a lack of anatomy, physiology and genetics questions, which, let’s say, these are the parts that make the differences between the students who have worked harder than the others. On the contrary, IMAT 2024 put all the students, those who have worked hard and those who worked less, in the same positions. The lesser difficulty of the test skyrocketed all the minimum points to be admitted in an Italian university, reaching above 70 points and rejecting all the proposed thresholds predicted before the exam date by the analysts. However, we think that also the IMAT 2025 will possibly resemble last year exam, but all the IMAT candidates should be prepared for any type of test that the Ministry may prepare.

Medicine and Surgery Seats

An official decree may release in the end of May about the official number of seats that each university will offer for both EU and non-EU students.

IMAT 2025 Attendance

We anticipate that the number of candidates taking the IMAT this year will apparently increase. This because of the new reform for Italian language programs in medicine, dentistry and veterinary. The new reform prompts a filter semester and the final list of students who will continue their route of becoming a doctor will be published in the end of the first semester of the first year, calculating the grades taken in the final exams of the first semester. This move may encourage many students to try IMAT and secure a definite place in medicine, rather than waiting until the end of February to be admitted, or not, into the Italian course. However, this may visibly affect the EU candidates, as more Italians will take the IMAT. We believe that non-EU students will not be affected that much.
